33' 66º

Director Matteo Sanders was born thirty-three years ago. Back then, his father was the same age as he is now. Over the distance of the years, they tell one another about an enraptured time. In their dialogue, 33'66° wanders through personal photo albums and searches for those people who can only be found at places of memory. Life lies between Florence and Lou Reed.

Der Anfang ist leicht: Erzählen wir einander“, (“The beginning is easy: let's tell each other”) writes author Anita Pichler in her poem ‘Der Zufall’ (The Coincidence). It is also chance that brings Matteo and his father together to make this film. The filmmaker was born 33 years ago, when his father was the same age as he is today. Over the distance of the years, they tell each other about a time that seems far away.

33' 66° wanders through personal photo albums from the post-war period, accompanied by a dialog between father and son. They talk about Florence and Lou Reed, meet people who can only be found in places of memory, and become melancholy at the thought of delicious limoncello. A new recording is added to the family archive: this movie. The past is thus visited for the sake of the living - in order to record who we are in relation to those we were.
